Core Values
These Core Values seek to bring clarity to what matters most at FBC. These aren’t new in our church family. You will find them woven into conversations, events, teaching and overall ministry direction. They will help us stay focused on what’s most important and provide tools for evaluation.
God desires an intimate relationship with each of us through His Son, Jesus Christ. We believe a relationship with Jesus Christ, where He is Savior & Lord is the only way to intimacy with God. (Romans 10:9; John 14:6) What do you believe about Jesus? Do you have a relationship with Jesus?
God speaks to us through the Bible. We recognize it as the final authority for our lives. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:23-25) How are you spending time daily in the Bible to hear from God? Is your life aligned with its teaching?
The identifying mark of Biblical Christianity is love. Above all we want to be known as demonstrating and living the love of Jesus Christ. We seek to accept people where they are in their journey and help them take their next step toward Jesus. (Matt. 22:37-38; 1 Cor. 13; Luke 10:25-37; John 13:34-35) Are you known first of all for how you love?
We are spiritual contributors, not spiritual consumers. The church does not exist for us. We are the church and we exist to serve God’s Kingdom through His Church and in the world He gave His Son to redeem. This includes the concepts of unity, teamwork, spiritual gifts and calling. (1 Cor. 12 & 14; Romans 12; Ephesians 4; Psalm 133:1) Where are you serving?
We believe that all we have has been entrusted to us by God. The way we manage these blessings may be the greatest indicator of where we are in our relationship with God. We believe Christians should be radically generous. (Matt. 25:14-30; Luke 16; 2 Cor. 8-9; Malachi 3) How are you radically generous with your time, abilities and finances? What is your percentage giving to impact His Kingdom through His church?
God says the family is the main source of the teaching and learning of the Christian faith. As a church, to strengthen this, we must teach and equip the parents as well as help the parents teach and train their children. (Deuteronomy 6:7, Ephesians 6:1-4, Psalms 78:5-8, Proverbs 22:6) How are you helping your family grow in relationship with Jesus?
Relationally connected believers will grow as they share life together. Accountability, spiritual growth, and caring for each other will happen best in the context of authentic Biblical Community. (Acts 2:42, Romans 12:9-10) Are you in a Bible Study Group? Are you pursuing authentic community in your church family?
Jesus called us to go and make disciples. We train, equip, and send our people so that God is glorified and the Kingdom is growing (Matt 28:16-20, Ephesians 4:11-17) Are you a growing disciple? How are you helping someone else grow?
We believe lost people matter to God and therefore they matter to us. God’s message of forgiveness through Christ is most effectively conveyed through personal relationships. (1 Tim. 2:3-6; 1 Peter 3:15; Acts 1:8) With whom are you sharing Christ through your relationships?
We represent God’s best when we bring excellence to all we do. We believe this honors God and inspires people. (Colossians 3:17, 23; Proverbs 27:17) Are you doing what you do in His church and all your life with excellence that honors God?
